Located just over an hour north of Cabo San Lucas, and just south of the quiet fishing town Todos Santos, you’ll find the absolutely stunning Hotel San Cristobal ( part of the Bunkhouse Hotel group). After lusting over other people’s instagram photo’s of this amazing hotel, I decided to treat myself for my fortieth birthday, and take the pilgrimage to Baja California, Mexico. Located on the Pacific side, and down a deserted desert road full of cacti and bougainvillea you’ll soon arrive at the only hotel for miles. An idyllic paradise located on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, where the sun will keep you warm and tan and the sea breezes will feel blissful and refreshing. You can literally spend hours just watching the waves crash on the shore and the local fisherman return with the day’s catch whilst lounging by the pool and sipping on a fresh margarita or mezcal. The hotel pool bar serves up some of the freshest ceviche and guacamole you’ll ever taste, and the hotel’s restaurant Benno has the most delicious menu and the friendliest staff. I spent each night of my vacation watching the sun set into the Pacific Ocean (which happens directly in front of the hotel) and then enjoying the golden and magenta hues that light up the sky from my table. And if you didn’t think it could get any better the stars appear. Being the only property for miles, there is little light pollution so the star gazing is out of this world. The hotel’s decor has been fully thought out and you’ll appreciate the attention to detail. Geometric tile throughout (including your own private terrace and bathroom), Baja rainbow robes (which I highly recommend purchasing from the curated onsite gift shop), plentiful Cacti, palm tree’s and ocean view pool. I’ll definitely be planning my next trip back to Baja for another relaxing vacation.
