Black Rock Lodge is a stunning eco resort in the Belize jungle close to San Ignacio. Each of the 13 cabins offer privacy and are secluded amongst the resort, offering amazing views of Black Rock Canyon, the Macal river and the surrounding rainforest. The cabins are clean and airy with open screened windows making you feel at one with nature.
We stayed at the Waterfall deluxe cabin, with king bed, walk in shower with stunning views of the waterfall and rainforest. The cabin boasted a private deck overlooking the Black Rock falls complete with hammocks for the ultimate relaxation.
Black Rock Lodge offers an array of day trips and adventures from zip lining to Mayan ruins throughout Belize and also Tikal in Guatemala (it's close to the boarder.) If you have already been riding around central America as much as we had, take full advantage of the wonderful activities they have on site such as tubing, night hikes, bird watching, nature walks, yoga and plenty of relaxation. The river is safe to swim and has a purpose built floating dock, perfect for catching rays and a rope swing for jumping into the cooling waters.
The resort caters all meals in their open aired A frame structure that looks directly out across to Black Rock Canyon and the Macal river. Dinner is served family style, with fresh food farmed on the resort. Each night, seated on different tables where you get the opportunity to meet and socialize with other couples, friends and families staying at the resort.
The staff at Black Rock Lodge couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, making our stay truly memorable.
